A 3.4 Megawatt Solar Power Plant Will Be Built In Italy by SunPower Partners and E.ON Climate and Renewables

SunPower Corp. and E.ON Climate and Renewables Italia Solar Srl agreed that SunPower will design and construct a ground-mounted solar power facility in Italy’s Lazio region. The facility should be completed by May 2011.

Christophe Jurczak, director of PV at E.ON said “We are happy to colaborate with SunPower on this important plant, as we expand our operations to serve Italy’s rapidly growing solar market.”

SunPower will install SunPower E19 solar panels on the SunPower® T0 Tracker system. The Tracker aligns the panels with the sun throughout the day and so gives up to 25 percent more energy than ordinary fixed-tilt solar power systems. This significantly lowers land use requirements.

“E.ON, a leader in renewable energy development, understands that SunPower technology maximizes return on investment by producing the most energy per hectare,” said Yoram Amiga, president of utility and power plants international at SunPower.
