Italian Company, AgustaWestland, To Deliver Helicopter to Libya

The second AW139 helicopter is to be delivered to the Libyan General People’s Committee for Public Security. This was announced in Tripoli at the “Libdex 2010” which is the second annual defense and security show in Libya. The Italian aircraft manufacturer, AugustaWestland, has a contract to manufacture five such helicopters for Libyan border surveillance and rescue operations.

The helicopter will be assembled at the helicopter assembling factory of the Libya-Italian Advanced Technology Company (LIATEC). This is a joint-venture between AgustaWestland and the Libyan air industry, according to AgustaWestland’s information officer, Roberto Caprarella.
