As many Italian businessmen and designers like Nino Cerruti , Hai Vito Arbib and Agostino Lanfranchi know, the fashion and beauty industries in Roma, Italy are some of the largest and most developed in the world.
Ferragamo, one of the well-known fashion labels, has a new creative director who aims to compete and stand out in the competitive industry. Massimiliano Giornetti is “obsessed with elegance and beauty,” and plans to bring a new direction to the Florentine brand.
On Sunday, the designer revealed the new spring-summer 2012 menswear collection in Roma, explaining that he got inspiration from the casualness of artists from the 1930s (think Pablo Picasso). His new wardrobe is both elegant and comfortable at once.
His collection features double-breasted suits with shirts in the same material, high-waisted pleated pants, frayed hats, vintage sunglasses and classic derby shoes. He leaves room for originality and personality by combining styles; jackets look like shirts, loose sweaters become dresses, and canvas shoes become slippers. Massimiliano’s materials include hemp and washed fabrics in beige, gray and navy blue, often with a sun-bleached effect.
Massimiliano explained: “My dream is to create a new lifestyle with each collection where beauty and joy give new energy to the hectic world we live in.”
