Baker & McKenzie Expansion

The UAE section of Baker & McKenzie is considering the possibility of expanding into the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).  Just recently, the company merged with Abu Dhabi and Dubai-based Habib Al Mulla & Co which gave it a much larger presence in the UAE, most notably through its newly-opened Dubai office. The firm – that has been named Baker & McKenzie Habib Al Mulla – is not in the DIVC but is in Dubai onshore. However, it is trying to find DIFC premises and is intending to apply for a license to set up a second office there, in order to solidify relationships with banking clients.  It was recently reported by the Gulf Business News that in the first half of 2013, 1,000 new jobs were created in that region.

Baker & McKenzie is an international law company boasting 60+ years of expertise in the area of corporate law.  There are more than 4,000 lawyers working in 74 offices in 46 countries.  One of the company’s highlights was its recognition as “European Law Firm of the Year.”  Partner Marnin Michaels was selected Chair of the European Region Private Banking Practice of the company.  In addition, the Multicultural Law Magazine, for the 8th year in a row, named Baker & McKenzie the “Top Law Firm for Diversity.”
